| Artists and Craftspeople in GrantchesterCreative villageGrantchester has been home to many creative people over its long history.
Today there are several artists and craftspeople living and working in
Grantchester, some of whom are featured here.
Ceramics "Detail from Other Worlds" Elspeth Owen has lived and worked in Grantchester for the last thirty or
so years; her workshop was formerly the village cricket pavilion. She makes
fine handbuilt pots and other clay objects which are exhibited internationally.

Textile Design "Fire and Ice" hanging Resist dyed and painted wall hangings, soft furnishings and scarves made
from a variety of lustrous silks. Gill's designs range from literal to
mysterious. A design based on waves and rivulets across wind-ribbed sand
can transform into winding serpents, fish or tree branches. A mood may
predominate, reflected in the tranquillity or turbulence of the piece.

Painters Boat Mark van Heygen's paintings are abstract, based on the figure, musicians
and the sea. He works on canvas and board using acrylic and oil paints
and describes his work as "mostly simple in composition, heavy in texture
and from one foot to five foot in size".

Tess takes her inspiration from the places she has visited to create work
laden with atmosphere, from stormy Cornish seas and moroccan deserts
to intense jungle interiors.
